Know the difference between Forensic Pathologist and Medical Examiner


Experts involved in finding out the exact biological reason for the death are known as medical examiners. Performing autopsies and examination of the entire internal parts of the dead body to know the main cause of the death is the job profiles of the medical examiners. They mainly concentrate only on the biological reason for death and therefore have the huge job opportunities in the health care facilities and hospitals. Eligibility to become a Medical Examiner is the MBBS degree.


Whereas Forensic Pathologists, comes under the category of Medical Examiners. Performing the laboratory tests on the tissues taken from the dead person and investigate on the cause of the death including its motivation is the job profiles of Forensic Pathologists. They usually deal with the criminal cases. Forensic Pathologists can find many opportunities in private or government investigative agencies. Where CBI employs the candidates to their Forensic Science Laboratory only through the exam held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Forensic Pathologists should have a MBBS degree and MD degree to be in Forensic Medicine.
